Blue Hole Falls: Elizabethton’s hidden gem full of waterfalls

Updated: Apr 4

Blue Hole Falls is referred to as a hidden gem by locals for good reason.

This trail can be found unmarked down a gravel road in Elizabethton on Panhandle Road, but navigation should lead hikers straight to the trail head.

There are no location indicators at the trail head, but no worries. Once you get out of your vehicle, you will be able to hear the roar of the waterfalls and know you are in the right place.

The trail itself is quite short at only 0.3 miles, so the hike should only take about 10 minutes.

The top of the trail has two options for hikers with a split path. The hike down the left path is quite steep and full of tree roots, but it is a more direct path to the bottom waterfall. The hike down the right path is a bit longer, but less steep and all four tiers of waterfalls along the trail can be seen on the way down.

The two bottom waterfalls have pools that are great for swimming, but hikers should keep in mind that the water can be quite cold.
