Tri-Pride takes on Johnson City

Tri-Pride is a free parade and festival celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. Alternating locations between the tri-cities every year, with the past two years being in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee. Pride parades have been a part of Queer history ever since the Stonewall riots in 1969. They have been used to show how far the Queer community has come. With this year's theme being “A Patchwork of Pride,” the park is decorated with needles, threads, buttons and much more.

Heading down Commerce St. in downtown Johnson City, the parade kicks off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. People line the streets in excitement, waiting to see the floats and performers.

Miss Tri-Pride, Nova Jynah and Mr. Tri-Pride Logan Glamour Scott ride through the streets on their colorful parade float, smiling and waving to the crowd as they pass by.

With tickets in hand, people gather by the main entrance once the parade has ended to wait to be let in for the festival.

An area filled with arts, crafts and games for children of all ages to run around and have fun at the beginning of the park.

Participants crowd the vendor area, looking through all the booths in hopes of taking home something to remember the day.

The park is decorated with hanging picture frames of various pride flags and colors, fitting with this year's theme “A Patchwork of Pride."
