Hundreds of fans gathered Nov. 8 at the Holiday Inn in Johnson City, Tennessee, for the first annual BST Video Game Convention, celebrating all things gaming from retro classics to modern favorites.

Organized by Sizzlin’ Games of Elizabethton, Tennessee, the event drew attendees from across the region, filling the convention space with excitement and nostalgia. Vendors lined the halls, offering a wide selection of games, consoles, collectibles and memorabilia from every era of gaming.
“It was incredible to see so many people come together over a shared love of games,” one attendee said. “You could feel the energy in the room.”
A major highlight of the convention was the appearance of voice actors Kenny James, best known as the voice of Bowser, and Samantha Kelly, who voices Princess Peach, Toad and Toadette in Nintendo’s Super Mario series. Fans lined up for autographs, photos and the chance to meet the voices behind some of the most iconic video game characters in history.
Samantha Kelly was a very down-to-earth individual, and when I was sitting with her,” Sara Disoso said. “Her eyes lit up when the little kids would come by. She engaged with everyone.”
Organizers said the convention’s success has already sparked plans for next year’s event, with hopes of expanding to include more guests, tournaments and panels.
The BST Video Game Convention marks a growing enthusiasm for gaming culture in East Tennessee, bringing together fans of all ages under one roof to celebrate the art, creativity and community that video games inspire.
